How to Install Xerox DigiPath Document Scan & MakeReady Software v2.1.x on a Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional system.

Solution

Follow these steps to install the Xerox DigiPath Document Scan & MakeReady software v2.1.x on a computer with Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional.

1. Install Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional to a drive partition formatted at NTFS.
2. Install Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
3. Login as an administrator.
4. Create a user with name xdoduser and with a password of xdodppp with the local computer domain. These are default example credentials. Use the credential provided to you by your technical contact.
5. Set this user account as an administrator.
6. Set this user account to User Cannot Change Password and Password Never Expires.
7. Logout from the administrator account and log back in as xdoduser.
8. Insert Xerox DigiPath 2.1 - Disc 3.
9. Select & install Java Virtual Machine from the list of available applications.
10. Insert Xerox DigiPath 2.1 - Disc 2.
11. Select & install Adobe Acrobat 4. Perform a full installation with Apple QuickTime. Note: DigiPath 2.1 does not work with Acrobat 6.
12. Skip Acrobat Registration when prompted.
13. Insert Xerox DigiPath 2.1 - Disc 1.
14. Select & install DigiPath 2.1 from the list of available applications.
15. Ignore error message regarding not having Service Pack 5 installed. Xerox DigiPath software was meant to be installed on a Microsoft Windows NT 4 Workstation machine and hence does not recognize correctly that this is a Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional operating system.
16. When prompted for DigiPath 2.1 serial # enter your serial number provided to you from your technical contact.
17. Select & install Document Scan and MakeReady without Document Library Application.
18. Select either to install TWAIN drivers for DigiPath Scanner 2000 or the DocuImage 620S.
19. Leave the default installation path and continue with installation.
20. When prompted for the patch file, insert your DigiPath 2.1 Patch Disc.
21. Select the latest patch file (your latest patch file is cumulative), and click on Apply Patch.
22. Ignore error message regarding not having SP5 installed.
23. Browse and select Disk 2 of patch file, if prompted.
24. Ignore error message regarding not having SP5 installed.
25. When all patch files are applied, click Next and restart the computer.
26. As of this writing, the latest version if DigiPath Software is v2.1.0.27.
27. After the system has restarted, click Finish when prompted to complete the installation process.
